Table 260 2745 Elk Grove Boulevard, Ste. 260 Elk Grove, CA 95758 916.683.3260 www.table260.com Before I get started, you have to understand something about my hometown of Sacramento. We have not had a casual dining restaurant for as long as I could remember. We’ve gotten close but something was always missing. The ambiance wasn’t right. The staff was not well trained. The furniture did not fit and the establishment’s owner just didn’t quite have that certain style you would expect them to have. That is not the case with Table 260 in Elk Grove. It is the first Black owned and operated restaurant established within the Sacramento county line. I remember when Table 260 had opened its doors. It took me a while to visit and although I heard good reviews, I still was not moved to go at that time.
However, once I made the decision to visit, it quickly became one of my hometown favorites. As I walked up to the door, it looked like another small corner shopping center that I had seen before. Not the case. I opened the door and viola! I was welcomed by a water fall type apparatus that separated the front door from the guests seating. The interior is dark with natural sunlight, spacious and with beautiful artwork on the walls. There’s an open kitchen which allows you to see the chefs at work in front of a sushi-style bar (no sushi served). There is comfortable seating along the wall and tables for four that cover the middle of the dining area. I was greeted immediately at the door with a smile and guided to my seat. The menu items were a fusion of American and Soul food. From oven roasted crab to cheesy grits. Chicken alfredo and chicken and waffles. I decided to try the baby back ribs, sweet potato fries, baked beans and the oh my goodness sweet tea! I know what you are thinking…why not have something a bit more gourmet? Well, I thought if I enjoyed a simpler entree that would give me an idea of what they could do with haute cuisine.
I did not have to wait long. Within less than 15 minutes, the aroma preceded my meal which arrived hot. The ribs fell off the bone and the sauce was a perfectly sweetened and tangy combination. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tender within. And the baked beans were seasoned just right. I had to try the Iron Skillet Apple Crisp everyone was in rave about. The crispy buttery topping covering the sweet juicy apples made me want a second helping and the vanilla ice melting on top did not help. I definitely recommend Table 260 for those who want a nice casual and warm atmosphere, gracious staff and soothing music to accompany a delicious and memorable meal.
