If you ever find yourself on the southeastern coast, check out some of the top Floridian delicacies you have to try and make your trip truly delicious.

One of the best things about traveling is trying the unique and flavorful cuisines of the various places you visit. Whether you’re looking for adventurous and exotic or delicious and familiar, the fun truly begins when you sink your teeth into the incredible favorites of the locals.

If you ever find yourself traveling through Florida, be sure to check out the top Floridian delicacies you have to try. You won’t regret it.

Conch

Conch, a large species of shellfish that populates the Floridian coast in abundance, has always had a strong foothold as one of Florida’s most popular and versatile delicacies. Conch is usually soaked in lemon juice until it becomes tender and juicy enough to cook. From there, it’s primarily enjoyed by visitors of the Florida Keys.

Conch is incorporated in many dishes, from thick, savory chowders to light and crisp ceviche. However, its most famous iteration comes in fried fritters with numerous selections of complementing dipping sauces.

Stone Crab

Snow crab is another must-have Florida delicacy because of its rampant population and deliciously sweet and buttery claw meat. Even better, snow crab is a responsibly sourced food, as the demand for these crustaceans requires thoughtful harvesting regulations that allow only the collection of their claws.

Like many other Floridian staples, stone crab is popular due to its ability to complement a diverse menu of dishes. Served as fish fries, savory potato crab cakes, and the local summer favorite of chilled claws with tangy mustard sauce, stone crab is a favorite statewide.

Fried Gator

Fried alligator nuggets are among the more exotic options of the top Floridian delicacies you have to try. But they’re juicy and flavorful all the same. The meat used in gator dishes usually comes from the succulent tail of the animal, so it’s best rolled in cornmeal and fried into dippable fritters.

However, it’s just as delicious when blackened, stewed, or used in thick soups or chowders. And if you’re really looking for adventurous eats, some places in Florida will even incorporate it in their cheesecakes.

Cuban Sandwiches

Of course, it’s no secret that Florida is famous for its authentic and vibrant Cuban cuisine. Among the most renowned dishes of this cuisine is the Cuban sandwich. This fantastic sandwich has been a culinary staple since its formal introduction to the state in the early 1900s. And most locals will tell you that this luncheon treat is the best Florida has to offer.

After all, it’s piled high with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles, which are all pressed between two perfectly toasted pieces of Cuban bread. If you ever find yourself in the area, give this gorgeous sandwich a sampling. You won’t regret it.

It’s no surprise that half the fun of traveling is experiencing all the amazing culinary adventures that await you on your journey. The next time you find yourself making your way up the Eastern Seaboard, make a few stops in Florida. It’s a beautiful state teeming with extraordinary, adventurous, and comforting cuisines that will make any trip deliciously worthwhile.
