The holiday season is my favorite time of the year to decorate. Not only do I like reflecting on the past year, but I find time to re-kindle, frolic and fellowship with my family and friends. Whether I’m inviting them to partake in a holiday feast, enjoy delicious desserts or indulge in spirits and cheer, I go out of my way to design an atmosphere that will let them know how special they are to me.
Below are a few of my favorite design tips that I have used over the years.
Scents of the Holiday Season
Evoke the holiday season by adding sensory-stimulating scents into the air. This can be done by burning your favorite scented candles or oil before your guests’ arrival. If you opt for an ongoing aroma, I find that using diffusers are best. Not only do diffusers enhance the aroma, the containers can also make a great accent piece for your decor. Just a few of the popular holiday scents that people enjoy are Iced Gingerbread, Peppermint Latte, Mint, Mulled Spices and Christmas Tree.

Deck the Halls with Living Walls
If your dwelling space is not plentiful or perhaps you are simply not feeling the traditional Christmas tree this holiday season, consider mounting living walls. Designed with your favorite succulents and accented with holiday décor, you can create a fabulous focal point in your home.
Frame Your Friend
Find your favorite image of your next visitor and place their picture into a holiday picture frame. Not only will be it bring about a blushing smile from your friend, but it will also make a perfect present for them to take with them.
Table Centerpieces
Industrial, rustic and natural settings have become popular with many designers. This holiday incorporate this concept in your home by using various fruits, wheat and willows into your table centerpiece.
This holiday season, design not only for yourself but for those you love and those you will celebrate the season.
