Indianapolis, Indiana, has a much-desired and robust Black-owned culinary scene. From classy catering experiences, top vegan food trucks and soul food restaurants that everyone knows to up-and-coming restaurants and lounges, Indianapolis, or Indy as locals referred to it as, hits the mark.

Here is a list of Indianapolis’ top 10 food and drink experiences. Be sure to check out their handles and follow them on social media.

Miami’s Garden – A new place where something is always happening. Events hosted range from comedy shows to all-white parties and more. Delicacies include gator bites, shrimp tempura with coconut rice, oxtail stew, grilled lobster tail, curry chicken and avocado cobb, to name a few.

Sincere Catering – Get to know Temicka Moore, “Chef Tweet,” the owner of Sincere Catering & Events. This Sigma Gamma Rho caters your way with everything from red wine lamb, strawberry spinach salad, stuffed chicken and rice pilaf to soul food, seafood and much more.

Maxine’s Chicken & Waffles –  Another soul food restaurant where their motto is “a taste of love in every bite.” It is recommended that visitors try their chicken tenders and waffles with peach butter.

His Place Eatery – Service the east side of Indy, where the previously mentioned restaurants are more centrally located, at His Place Eatery you can get traditional soul food and red velvet chicken and waffles.
