After appearing on McDonald’s menus worldwide, U.S. fans are now getting their chance to experience and taste the Chicken Big Mac, the global food chain’s reimagined twist on its class original Big Mac sandwich.

For a limited time, fans can head to a participating location—while supplies last—to enjoy the “new school” creation that includes two chicken patties, classic shredded lettuce, pickles, cheese and a generous dollop of Special Sauce on a sesame seed bun. However, the new sandwich comes sans onions as McDonald’s says they didn’t work with the chicken.

“With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” says Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA.

Signing on to help is Big Mac superfan and internet star Kai Cenat, who is featured in a TV spot currently in rotation.  He also teased his followers during a livestream viewed almost two million times.

Hassan says about including Cenat as part of the Chicken Big Mac launch, “By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich.”

Chicken Big Mac – An International Fan Favorite is Born

It has been almost a month since the Chicken Big Mac appeared on menus across the U.S.  Prior to its October 10 debut, McDonald’s first launched the fan favorite in 2022 in the United Kingdom, with a total of five continents to follow.

A test run in Miami would prime the Chicken Big Mac for American markets, and last month, Cuisine Noir, other media outlets and influencers would get a preview and taste at McDonald’s headquarters in Chicago.

“The tempura batter-coated, fried chicken patties—there’s two on each burger like the Big Mac—had the right amount of crispiness on the outside while still remaining juicy on the inside. And, no, the chicken patties in the burger did not taste like the McNuggets,” says Jocelyn Amador, contributing journalist for Cuisine Noir, who attended the preview event.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles at the end of September, McDonald’s secretly introduced the Chicken Big Mac at McDonell’s, a dining experience hosted by Chain, who is known for their events where chefs put their own spin on restaurant classics.

The Chicken Big Mac is among the latest new menu items launched by the fast food giant over the last three years.  The innovations are in an attempt to diversify its offerings to consumers and be viewed as the clear choice for individuals and families looking for affordability and to gain time back in their day at mealtimes.

Dip your Chicken Big Mac in the famous Big Mac sauce and pair it with an order of McDonald’s fries and a soft drink and “Ba Da Ba Ba Ba,” you’re sure to love it.
