Sesame seeds are an often-forgotten garnish, but they offer multiple health benefits. See why you should incorporate these seeds into your daily diet.

Many people know sesame seeds as the seeds adorning their hamburger buns, but they’re one of the culinary world’s oldest and most versatile toppings. Whether you’re making sesame oil or topping your favorite Asian dishes or salads, sesame seeds add depth, texture, flavor, and helpful nutrients that can help keep our bodies healthy.

There are many fascinating health benefits of sesame seeds, and today we’re going to look at a couple of the best.

Invaluable Nutrients

Sesame seeds are tiny, but they pack in many incredible nutrients that do our bodies good. These seeds are an excellent source of protein, calcium, magnesium, iron, and vitamin E. Sesame seeds also contain high amounts of dietary fiber to keep you regular and are a natural antioxidant to improve cellular health.

A Delicious Ingredient

Aside from their nutritional value, these seeds are an incredibly versatile ingredient that works in various recipes. After an extensive workout, you can use the seeds as a garnish for salads or soups or blend them into nutritious smoothies.

If you like to grow vegetables in your garden, soybeans create delicious miso, which pairs well with multiple sesame seed options. Here’s one of our favorite recipes for a sesame-miso spread at home.

Above and Beyond Benefits

With all the nutrients in them, it’s no wonder there are so many fascinating health benefits of sesame seeds. Because of their high calcium, sesame seeds may improve overall teeth and bone health, while the copper content in them soothes inflammation and strengthens joints.

Thanks to sesame seeds being high in protein, they’re a healthy and delicious way to boost your metabolic health by increasing strength, cellular growth, and energy levels. A small step like adding seeds or sesame oil into your diet gives your body more energy and valuable nutrients you and your family may otherwise be lacking.
